Domestic Short Hair–black & white mix
Olive is very pretty, white with black patches here and there and a cute black spot over one eye, under her bottom lip, and the bottom of her nose. She is a short hair cat around five or six years old, in excellent health, who tested negative for FIV and FeLV.
Olive was a stray — very frightened when she was brought into the shelter. She would lash out. We noticed she was going after her ears all the time, so we brought her to the vet. She was diagnosed with very severe ear infections in both of her ears. It was painful and made her even more frightened. She would only let a certain brave volunteer medicate her. The infection is all cleared up now.
Olive has improved, however, she is still a little cautious. She is really a sweet cat deep down. She likes to have her head scratched and upper back petted, as long as you approach her slowly and let her smell your hand first. We are not going to give up on Olive because of all the success we have had in the past with cats with similar personalities.
We feel she would do best in a single cat home with someone who is not interested in a lap cat and does not need a lot of attention. The key is understanding, patience, trust, time, and of course love.
Olive is up to date with routine shots, house trained and spayed.
